BE THERE WHEN IT MATTERS MOST!

Join Mindy’s Listener Community and help make emotional support accessible, safe, and stigma-free for everyone.
No advice. No judgment. Just compassionate listening.

What is the role of a Listener?

A Mindy Listener is a trained volunteer who provides empathetic, non-judgmental emotional support through active listening. Listeners create a safe space for people to talk about their feelings without fear, pressure, or stigma.
Listeners do not diagnose, treat, or advise. Their role is to listen, validate emotions, and gently guide users toward healthier coping and professional help when needed.

Got a question?

Is this a paid position?

No. The Mindy Listener role is a voluntary, unpaid position. This role is driven by compassion, community impact, and a commitment to making emotional support accessible. While it is not financially compensated, listeners receive training, supervision, and a certificate of participation.

Do I need a background in psychology or mental health to apply?

No prior academic or professional background in mental health is required. We welcome applicants from all educational and professional backgrounds. What matters most is your ability to listen with empathy, respect boundaries, and follow ethical guidelines. All selected listeners will receive structured training before starting.

What kind of support will I receive as a Listener?

Listeners are never left alone. You will receive initial training, ongoing guidance, access to supervision, and a peer support community. If a conversation feels difficult or goes beyond your role, Mindy has clear escalation pathways and support systems in place.

How much time do I need to commit?

Listeners are expected to contribute based on their priority with flexible scheduling. We also ask for a minimum commitment period so that listeners can build confidence and consistency while avoiding burnout.

What happens if someone shares something serious or risky?

You are not expected to handle crisis situations alone. Mindy has clear safeguarding and escalation protocols. If a conversation involves risk of harm, listeners are trained to escalate the situation to the appropriate support channels while prioritizing safety for both the user and the listener.

Important Notice

This is a voluntary, unpaid role. Mindy does not offer financial compensation for Listener positions.
Applicants are required to complete the application independently. The use of AI tools or automated assistance at any stage of the application process is strictly prohibited. Applications found to be AI-generated may be disqualified.
